Sam Jones

Head of Communications and Public Affairs

Sam Jones joined University Alliance in 2011 and is responsible for the Alliance communications strategy, covering all aspects of communications and in particular to strengthen the position of the Alliance in Parliament and the media and further the reach of our communication. Sam also leads the university_vision project with Liz Shutt.

Sam joined the Alliance from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills where he oversaw communications for the Secretary of State, Vince Cable, and Peter Mandelson before him. Prior to this Sam held various communications roles across Government (DIUS, Defra and the Environment Agency), and the private sector, including Harrods.

Sam studied a double major in Australian Indigenous Studies and Communications at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and moved to London in 2002 to study further. Sam has also completed the CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing and is a member of CIM and CIPR.

Sam has recently moved to Winchester with his wife and two children.
