New thinking about the future of HE

I was pleased to attend the launch of Pearson’s Blue Skies: new thinking about the future of higher education this morning. The publication has brought together a diverse range of viewpoints about what the future should hold for HE and what it is for now. Our contribution entitled Universities at the centre of growth: the role of business engaged universities looks at how and why universities engage with business. It also demonstrates that by doing so, they play a central role in driving economic growth across the UK.

Pearson’s Blue Skies project is a reminder once again of the need for everyone in the HE sector to step back from the ongoing political debate that often focuses heavily on detail, and create spaces that allow broader discussions about the future of our sector.

You can also see me talk a little bit about this in a video prepared for the project:

Thanks to all the team at Pearson for putting together this pamphlet – it is a must-read for anyone interested in the ongoing debate about the future of HE. You can read it all online here.
