Congratulations to the winner of our Christmas card competition 2014

We’ve a winner – check out the design which has won this year’s Christmas card design competition. Our theme for this year was ‘Collaboration’, inspired by the extensive number of partnerships that both University Alliance and our universities have engaged with over the past year.

University Alliance Christmas Card Competition 2014 winner

University Alliance Christmas Card Competition 2014 winner: Emma Daniels

The winning entry came from Emma Daniel, a BA (Hons) Graphic Design student at Sheffield Hallam University. Her design will be used on the cover of our Christmas card which we send out to our key stakeholders.

Her inspiration for the design was ‘when the whole family comes together at Christmas to decorate the tree.’ She said: “I’ve recreated this through a woodland scene where all the animals, young and old, have been brought together, each doing jobs suited to their strengths.”

We also have two runners up for 2014. The first runner up entry came from Catherine Cooksley who is studying Illustration at the University of Hertfordshire.

2014 Christmas card competition first runner up

First runner up: Catherine Cooksley

Catherine said: “My design shows a group of elves working together to produce the shape of a Christmas tree. When thinking of collaboration I felt it was necessary to depict that working as a group can be an enjoyable experience and the outcome should be something that each person feels proud of.”

Our second runner up place was won by Roxana Radulescu, a BA Graphic Design and Illustration student also at University of Hertfordshire. She took inspiration from the theme to come up with “a simple visual expression in the Christmas spirit. The ginger bread men are placed holding hands on the plate to show unity and working together”.

Second runner up: Roxana Radulescu

Thanks to everyone who took part in this year’s competition and congratulations to our winner and runners up.
