Our Christmas card competition 2015 winner is unveiled

Students and staff have been demonstrating the wealth of creativity thriving within Alliance universities by entering our annual Christmas card competition.

This year’s theme was ‘Making the difference in our cities and regions‘, inspired by our new mission and the impact our universities have on their local communities and the UK.

We’re pleased to reveal the winning entry – a watercolour and ink artwork from Almagul Inkarova, a first year BA(Hons) Architecture student at Liverpool John Moores University.  Her design will be be used on the cover of our Christmas card which we send out to our key stakeholders including ministers and university vice chancellors.

Explaining her inspiration for the design, Almagul said: “I endeavoured to portray how people from the cities are helping those who live in the surburban areas. Therefore, on special events such as Christmas, citizens have decided to bring lots of presents by train to those people and then take them back to the city to celebrate Christmas together.”

We also have a runner up for 2015 – Jasmin Issaka, who is studying BA(Hons) Graphic Design at  Nottingham Trent University.

Jasmin said about her design: “A christmas tree without any decorations is simply a tree. Every piece of decoration brings vibrance and life to a christmas tree to give it character. In this instance the decor are landmarks of some of the cities the universities reside in. Each decor brings its own character to collectively fulfil the tree and make it vibrant.”

Thanks to everyone who took part in this year’s competition and congratulations to our winner and runner up.
