Situated in the East of England, Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) has four campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Peterborough and London, with over 25,000 students from 185 different countries.

Ranked in the world’s top 350 institutions in the 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, ARU aims to transform lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. Over the last five years, the university has invested over £115 million across their campuses, building a new Science Centre, Law Clinic, state of the art clinical skills labs, and Chelmsford’s School of Medicine, the first of its kind in Essex.

ARU is the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care courses in England (HESA 2018/19 student enrolment data). It is also one of the UK’s largest providers of degree apprenticeships, working with employers including Barclays, Vinci and GSK, and has been selected to train the next generation of police officers, working alongside seven police forces across the region.

ARU prides itself on its inclusivity, actively encouraging students from a wide range of backgrounds. In the 2020 Graduate Outcomes Survey, ARU was fifth in the country for the proportion of UK undergraduates in employment or further study 15 months after graduating.

Awarded a Silver for its teaching quality in the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF), ARU’s academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 12 research areas assessed as world-leading in the Research Excellence Framework 2014. ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields, delivering impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities.

As an organisation, ARU fosters strong links with the local community, hosting a variety of events throughout the year. Recent work has focused on helping to stimulate economic growth across the region, providing innovation vouchers to access academic support and launching an internship scheme where graduates can inject fresh ideas into business projects.
