Northumbria University, Newcastle, is a research-rich, business-focused, professional university with a global reputation for academic excellence. Based in two of the UK’s best student cities, Newcastle and London, with a growing international presence, Northumbria has students from 136 countries.
The University has extensive global collaborations with high-quality partners. This ranges from Kaplan in Singapore, where we are its largest UK provider, to our partnership with BINUS International in Indonesia to create the BINUS-Northumbria School of Design (BNSD). Northumbria is also renowned for its outstanding cultural and business partnerships in the UK, such as the award-winning collaboration with BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, the first venue outside of London to host the Turner Prize, and the International Centre for Life, a pioneering science village based in Newcastle and a world-leader in stem cell technology.
To give its students and stakeholders a competitive edge and ensure it meets the needs of the global marketplace, Northumbria works with major employers, including the likes of Nike, IBM, Nissan, Proctor & Gamble, Apple, the BBC, and the NHS, while more than 560 employers and 60 professional bodies sponsor and accredit the University’s programmes. In 2014, Northumbria climbed six places in the Complete University Guide, with six of its programmes being ranked in the Top 10 nationally. This performance reflects Northumbria’s position as one of the top 10 universities in the UK for the number of graduates entering professional employment. It is also ranked fourth in the UK for graduate business start-ups.
The University was recently awarded the highly prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for the outstanding work of its Student Law Office, the highest form of national recognition open to a UK academic or vocational institution. This year, Northumbria also joined an elite group of 5% of business schools worldwide, following accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
The University puts students at the heart of an outstanding experience, with world-leading research and award-winning partnerships driving and informing academic excellence, combining to make Northumbria a new kind of excellent university.
