With origins dating back to the 1830s, Manchester Metropolitan University is now the most popular university in the UK, attracting 52,750 UCAS applications by this year’s January deadline.
The University is a major economic contributor to the North West: its business incubator, Innospace, underpins start-ups and new enterprises, courses and training are tailored in-house for top companies, helping SMEs to grow and access funding, and it is the region’s largest public sector provider of accountancy, law and education professionals.
In the 2008 RAE MMU’s subjects rated internationally excellent included health, biomedical sciences, computer science, business and management, social work and social policy, philosophy, drama, dance and performing arts.
MMU is also leading the delivery of the STEM programme in the region to widen access and increase the uptake of strategically important subjects such as chemistry, physics, maths and engineering by the current and future workforce.
They are one of the largest providers of science, engineering and technology education in the UK and an international leader in clothing design and technology.
MMU is investing £300 million in world-class facilities to support teaching and research.
