University Alliance welcomes Bright Blue report on part-time HE

In response to the report by Bright Blue Going part-time, supported by The Open University, Maddalaine Ansell, Chief Executive of University Alliance, said:

“The sharp decline in part-time study at both undergraduate and postgraduate level is of great concern. If we are serious about increasing productivity, it needs to be addressed – and this will require creative solutions.

“We welcome the new evidence and analysis that Bright Blue has brought to the debate. We agree that employers have to be part of the solution. While we support the government’s drive to increase the numbers of Degree Apprenticeships, other forms of work-based part-time learning can help people to learn new skills at all stages of their lives. We hope that the recommendations in the report inspire government to consider seriously how they can support this.”
