Move over coffee houses, it’s time for Tea Sheds!

Unfortunately Jules was unable to join us at our Parliamentary launch of Start-up: a story as she was busy preparing her own launch – of the exciting new pop-up Tea Shed inside Fenwick Foodhall! We caught up with Jules to find out how the launch went.

“On the 20th April, The *TeaShed launched its very first pop-up Tea Shed inside Newcastle’s busy and prestigious Fenwick Foodhall. The launch of this pop-up is quite a landmark in the life of The *TeaShed. Fenwick was our first stockist and it is absolutely fantastic that in May we will be celebrating our 2nd Birthday there with our exciting and unique concession.

Our pop-up is like no other! We have a shed with a lawn out the front and a picket fence. We have ‘blend your own tea’ out of test tubes and a range of fantastic food supplied by Fenwick. Not only that, but we have an outstanding team who will make sure you have the best unique experience.

The *TeaShed, was born in Newcastle two years ago and is still brewed there today. We are renowned for our excellent quality teas, which are exclusively sourced and imported from Sri Lanka to the North East, where they are then packed into quirky packaging, that is designed by me and other young designers.

With the pop-up Tea Shed we are staying true to our brand values and employing local young people and giving them the opportunity to take on serious responsibilities and even put on their own events as part of the pop-up. Of course I will oversee it all, but it is very much a team effort and I am really proud to have such a fantastic group of hard working people. This will just prove how brilliant young people are!

There is much more to come too. We are now with the two of the UK’s biggest food retail wholesalers, Cotswold Fayre and Hider and this will see a dramatic growth in *TeaShed listings across the UK. Over the next few years we also will expand the export side of the business with distribution already lined up for Japan. In addition to this, depending on the scale of success of the first *TeaShed pop-up, we would roll out a nationwide pop-up *TeaShed plan, with a *TeaShed in every major city by 2018. Move over coffee houses, it’s time for Tea Sheds!”
