Alliance universities support around a quarter of all UK research teams undertaking world class research in Allied Health and over a quarter of those in General Engineering, Architecture and the Built Environment.
They have been in the business of meeting economic need for over 100 years, most established as institutes of engineering and design during the industrial revolution. This continues today, with over 50% of their research income in STEM-related areas. With strong industrial links they have a deep understanding of the strengths and needs of their local economy they are also supporting its translation and exploitation.
