DTA Alumni

Over the past six years 250+ PhD researchers have benefitted from the DTA’s ambitious training initiatives in world-leading applied research. The enhanced training programme provides doctoral researchers with a comprehensive understanding of the range of career pathways open to them within and beyond academia, alongside the development skills required to access those pathways. With a proactive, outward-looking mindset, DTA graduates will be ready to translate their high-level skills into practice in the work place. Programmes develop professional skills in leadership, entrepreneurship, problem-solving, engagement and provide enhanced access to tailored post graduate researcher specific careers guidance. In recent years, DTA has prepared doctoral students to embark on a range of careers.

Many DTA alumni have gone on to conduct research projects in academia and industry, as well as within public sector organisations. A significant proportion of DTA graduates draw more broadly on their doctoral skills and knowledge to develop careers outside of research, including as medical and non-medical healthcare professionals, as engineers working across different areas of industry and as experts shaping policy in the public sector.

Our growing DTA alumni network creates an international community of highly-skilled individuals who are ambassadors for wide ranging benefits and added value that the DTA brings to the applied research landscape. The continued engagement of alumni with the programme, and the inspiration they provide to current cohorts is testament to the shared and collaborative nature of the DTA. We can’t wait to see what they do next!
