Why ‘myth-busting’?

In 2023 and 24, University Alliance conducted focus groups with young people, employers and policy makers and surveyed university applicants across the UK. We discovered that some common misconceptions were making it harder for young people to feel empowered in making the right university choices for them. There were misconceptions about what employers look for, the range of teaching styles and support that university can offer and even which subject was the ‘right’ one to choose.

For example…

68%

Of applicants feel ‘anxious’ or ‘very anxious’ about choosing the ‘right’ university

Of employers consider the university attended to be important when hiring grads
