The Office for Fair Access (OFFA) has commented on our report, Supporting Thriving Communities: The role of universities in reducing inequality.
OFFA’s Director of Fair Access to Higher Education Professor Les Ebdon said: “I’m glad to see this report celebrating the ways that fair access to university enriches society and the economy as well as transforming individuals’ lives.
“University Alliance is absolutely right to highlight the importance of a whole-institution, whole student lifecycle approach to widening participation. Embedding access goals throughout an institution has been key to the progress made by many universities, supported by access agreements which we know are helpful to widening participation teams in achieving buy-in from senior managers.
“So I would like to see these approaches replicated in many more institutions. Using a whole-institution, whole student lifecycle approach will help universities to make faster progress on fair access.”
The report was prepared with support and advice from OFFA’s Head of Evidence and Effective Practice Rachael Tooth, and other key experts on fair access.
