University Alliance welcomes Professor Osama Khan to USW and the UA Board

University Alliance (UA) is delighted to welcome Professor Osama Khan, the new Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of South Wales (USW), to the UA Board. 

Professor Khan started at USW this week and brings more than 27 years of teaching experience in finance and extensive leadership roles across UK higher education. He joins USW from Aston University, where he served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). 

Professor Khan started his career in investment banking and corporate finance. Moving into academia, he held senior leadership roles at institutions including the University of Surrey and Solent University, and has taught at the Cambridge Judge and Copenhagen business schools. 

He is widely recognised for his commitment to inclusive education, student success and social mobility, as well as for sector leadership on equality, diversity and institutional reform.  

Speaking in response, University Alliance CEO Vanessa Wilson said: 

“As University Alliance (UA), we are proud to welcome Professor Khan to his new role at USW and to UA. Osama is a fantastic and hugely experienced leader with a strong track record. Osama’s expertise and experience will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the evolution of the University of South Wales, and in addition Osama will no doubt contribute substantially to the collective leadership of University Alliance going forwards. Osama is also genuinely the most wonderful human being and his warmth and energy is infectious!”
