Professor Mitchell joined the University of Derby in September 2015. With an academic background in Psychology, Kathryn continues to play an active role in research at Derby. Prior to this, Kathryn was Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of West London, and spent time overseas working at the University of Chicago, the Rockefeller Institute in New York and the Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel.
