Teesside: Andrew’s Story

Andrew Ward  North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust

“I have been opened up to a world of business, finance, marketing and entrepreneurship.”

When I heard about a degree apprenticeship I knew it was the best option for me while being employed. I attended an open day at Teesside University to find out more and I knew there and then it was for me.

The degree apprenticeship has allowed me to learn and apply the knowledge in my workplace in real time, which is the unique thing about this pathway.

The programme has enabled me to understand the importance of stakeholders along with many other elements of business.

My employer has fully supported my studies, allowing me time to attend university. Teesside University have also been really supportive – they understand the pressures of juggling university life with a full time job and family commitments.

If you’re thinking that a degree apprenticeship is for you then go for it. You’re also never too old or too young to learn. Plus the fact you get to work in a cohort is much more interesting as everyone brings their own unique experiences.
