Response to the HEFCE grant allocation letter received by universities

Responding to the HEFCE grant allocation letter received by universities this week, Libby Aston, Director of University Alliance, said:

“HEFCE have dealt with a difficult funding environment well, managing a high level of uncertainty and cuts in overall funding to mitigate the impact on individual universities. Universities will continue to play their part in the government’s plans for sustainable economic growth going forward.

“Longer-term, the outcomes of the Browne Review and the Spending Review will be of the utmost importance. Although funding will continue to be tight, it is vital to recognise the central role universities play as generators of economic growth and wealth creation.”
