University Alliance ‘relieved’ as UK re-joins Horizon Europe

Vanessa Wilson

University Alliance has responded to the announcement that the UK is to re-join Horizon Europe.

Commenting on the news, Vanessa Wilson, CEO of University Alliance, said:

“We are delighted and relieved that, after many years of uncertainty, the UK has associated fully with Horizon Europe.

Collaborations with international partners are vital to harnessing the country’s research and innovation capability, and Horizon has always offered the best possible opportunity for international collaboration.

Alliance universities specialise in applied research, often conducted in tandem with industry, and this has benefitted significantly from Horizon funding and international partnerships fostered over many years. Our universities and their partners across Europe will be relieved today that this vital work can continue.

Universities and research communities will now be able to kick-start new projects and programmes with our partners in Europe and beyond. This is a vital step in delivering on the Government’s aspirations to make the UK a ‘research superpower.’”
