University Alliance responds to UCAS figures on Level 3 results day

Vanessa Wilson, CEO of University Alliance said:

Good luck to everyone receiving their level 3 results today! It can be a day of many emotions – but students should feel assured that teachers, schools and universities are on hand for support, whatever their results. With an acceptance rate increase this year, the majority of which at firm choices, I’m confident that today will be a day of celebration for students across the country.

UCAS and university websites are great places to go for all the advice and guidance needed, especially for help finding places through clearing. Though clearing can feel like a stressful decision, university admissions teams are on hand to help ease students through the process. Clearing can be an amazing opportunity to find new opportunities and pathways for students.”

On the increase in international student acceptances

“As the increase in international student acceptances this year proves, the UK remains a highly desirable global destination for study. Higher education is one of the UK’s greatest exports, and we should be proud to continue delivering high quality education to students from around the world.”

On the stable acceptance rate for nursing

“Nursing continues to retain a steady acceptance rate – but this doesn’t represent the whole picture. Nursing and other allied health professions are suffering falling application rates and limited placements at NHS trusts.

If we are to deliver on the NHS Ten Year Health Plan, the government and the NHS must continue to work with universities to improve long-term planning and funding.

As the YouGov polling we commissioned displayed this week, 85% of UK citizens are in support of financial incentives for students training to work in the NHS.”
