Supporting Global Britain with new publication and Australia delegation

University Alliance today publishes a new document aimed at international audiences ahead of a delegation of Alliance Vice-Chancellors visiting partners in Australia to strengthen the group’s international links.

The publication titled Technical & Professional Excellence highlights the strength of Alliance universities’ offer to international students and overseas partners. It profiles our global connections and aims to raise the prominence of UK professional and technical education overseas. It has been developed in partnership with the British Council, the GREAT Campaign and Department of International Trade.

Alliance universities attract over 60,000 international students a year from more than 170 countries, with over 400,000 studying on programmes they deliver overseas. Collectively, Alliance universities work with 4,500 partner universities across the globe.

This month’s visit to Australia will support collaborative activity in student and staff mobility and dual awards, and build on existing joint research aligned to sectors identified as priorities by the UK and Australian governments. University Alliance and the Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) first signed a memorandum of understanding in 2013.

Commenting, University Alliance Chief Executive Maddalaine Ansell said:

“Alliance universities have a global footprint. We want to use our extensive networks to support Britain’s world-leading education exports and promote the UK’s diverse offer internationally.

“Our mission to Australia is aimed at strengthening existing collaborations between ATN and Alliance members. These are aligned to challenges identified by both the UK and Australian governments to support research and trade with a key partner nation as Britain leaves the EU.”
